Mr. Effiong Usen Okon is a seasoned public sector and development finance executive with over three decades of progressive leadership experience spanning investment management, banking operations, human capital development and institutional transformation.
He currently serves as Executive Director, Other Investments at Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP), where he oversees the Project Monitoring and Implementation, Entrepreneurship and Business Development as well as Investment Promotion and Appraisal Departments. He is also a Member of the Corporation’s Board of Directors, contributing to strategic investment direction and value creation initiatives for State.
Prior to this appointment at AKICORP, Mr. Effiong was Executive Director, Corporate Services and Commercial at the Bank of Industry (BOI), one of Nigeria’s foremost development finance institutions.
He also served as Chairman of BOI Microfinance Bank where he led the Board in strengthening governance standards, performance oversight and executive accountability. He further served on the Boards of BOI Investment & Trust Company Limited, BOI Insurance Brokers Limited and LECON Financial Services Limited.
He began his professional career as an Assistant Lecturer in Agricultural Economics at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, before joining the Central Bank of Nigeria in 1990, where he rose steadily through the ranks and consequently served in multiple senior leadership roles over three decades.
He holds an M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ibadan and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Agricultural Economics (Second Class Upper Division) from the University of Calabar.
A respected professional in human capital and governance practice, Mr. Effiong is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), an Honorary Senior Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), a Strategic Workforce Planner (Human Capital Institute), a Certified Talent Acquisition Professional (CTAP), a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) as well as the Institute of Directors Nigeria (IoD).
Mr. Effiong who is a Knight of John Wesley (KJW) of the Methodist Church of Nigeria brings to the Board of Anchor Insurance Company Limited deep institutional insight, disciplined governance orientation and a proven track record in driving growth, operational excellence and sustainable value creation.
Dr. Ebose Augustine Osegha is the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Company. Before his appointment in February, 2018, he was the Company’s Executive Director, Business Development and Marketing. He joined Anchor Insurance in January, 2017 from Standard Alliance Insurance Plc where he was General Manager/Divisional Head, Public Sector, Brokers Marketing and Emerging Markets.
He holds B.Sc (Hons.) degree in Economics, Delta State University, Abraka; MBA, University of Ado-Ekiti, Ado-Ekiti; Master’s in Business Administration, specialising in Management Research (M.Res. degree) from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom; Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Business Administration, specialising in Entrepreneurship and Small-Scale Business Management, Babcock University, Ilishan, Ogun State and another Ph.D (in view) in Strategic Marketing Management, Babcock University, Ilishan, Ogun State.
Dr. Ebose is a Member of the Governing Council, Nigerian Insurers’ Association where he serves as the Honourary Assistant Treasurer; Fellow, Chartered Institute of Administrators; Fellow, Institute of Chartered Administrators and Researchers of Nigeria; Member, Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN); Institute of Directors; Ikoyi Club 1938 and NAICOM’s Publicity/Communication Sub-Committee, among others.
Mrs. Comfort Ewang, a frontline school administrator and a one-time First Lady of Ogun and Rivers States respectively, is the Director, Beulah International School, a foremost private school of reference based in Akwa Ibom State.
She holds a Master’s degree from London School of Economics, United Kingdom (2001); Master’s degree in Education, University of Calabar (1995); First degree in Education, University of Nigeria (1984) and NCE, College of Education, Uyo (1977).
Mrs. Ewang brings to the Board her deep knowledge of administration and governance matters.
Mr. Akin Taiwo, an accomplished technocrat and professional who has developed result-oriented approach to issues focused and committed to problem solving and management of resources at the highest level in both the private and public sectors of the Nigerian economy, is a Chairman on several Boards including Refuge Home Savings and Loans Ltd, RHSL Property & Investment Ltd and Rhief – Lane Properties Limited, among others. Between 1997 and 1998, he was Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Ogun State.
A graduate of Political Science (B.Sc) from the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos, Mr. Taiwo is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA); Associate Member, Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (ACIT); Member, Real Estate Developers of Nigeria (REDAN); Ikoyi Club 1938 and Metropolitan Club respectively.
Prof. Paul Okon Udofot is a passionate academic, public administrator, banker, consultant and a thorough Management and behaviour change expert with over 35 years of professional experience.
Udofot is a Professor of Entrepreneurship and Organisational Behaviour at the University of Uyo where he has been lecturing since December 2003 and a Visiting Professor at Topfaith University, Mkpatak, both in Akwa Ibom State. He had, at a time, served as Director, Centre for Skills Acquisition and Rural Development at the University of Uyo.
Prior to moving to the academic world, he had worked as Branch Manager, People’s Bank of Nigeria; Zonal Head (Edo/Delta) of the Directorate of Food, Roads and Rural Infrastructure (DFRRI); Managing Associate at Management Dynamics.
Prof. Udofot has a Ph.D in Management from the University of Uyo (2012); a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), University of Benin (1998) and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Economic Statistics from Odessa School of Economics, Ukraine (1987).
He is a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), the Nigeria Academy of Management and the International Society of Development and Sustainability, Japan.
Mr. Bob Almond Emem is a well rated public finance and banking executive with over two decades of progressive leadership experience spanning government, commercial banking, economic policy and institutional governance.
He currently serves as Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Akwa Ibom State where he provides strategic oversight of the State’s fiscal management, treasury operations, revenue optimization and financial sustainability framework. He also holds concurrent responsibility as Supervising Commissioner for Special Duties and the Ibom Deep Seaport Project.
Prior to his above responsibilities, he served as Honourable Commissioner for Economic Development in the State (2022–2025). Under his leadership, the State produced key fiscal and policy documents including the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), Fiscal Strategy Papers (FSP), Citizen’s Budgets and Statistical Year Books. He also co-ordinated the AK-CARES programme.
In addition to his executive responsibilities, Mr. Emem has served on several strategic boards and committees, including: Board Member, Ibom Air Limited; Director, Ibom Fadama Bank; Member, Akwa Ibom State Investment Corporation; Member, Akwa Ibom State Bulk Purchase Agency; Member, AK-CARES Steering Committee and Member, State Palliative Committee.
Before his transition into public service, Mr. Emem built an accomplished banking career across leading Nigerian financial institutions including United Bank for Africa Plc, Heritage Bank Plc, Fidelity Bank Plc, among others, holding Management positions.
Mr. Emem has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Port Harcourt Business School and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) degree in English from the University of Uyo.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Loan and Risk Management of Nigeria; Institute of Management Consultants and the Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria respectively. He is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and Institute of Management and Strategic Studies.
Mr. Emem has received several professional and integrity-based recognitions which included the Eminent Integrity Personality of the Year (2022) and Eminent Political Integrity Award by the Association of Conflict Resolution Management and Advocacy of Nigeria (ACAN), as well as multiple regional banking performance awards.
He brings to the Board his strong expertise in fiscal governance, capital stewardship, enterprise risk management and strategic financial oversight.
Mr. Uko Udom, SAN, is a distinguished legal practitioner and Senior Advocate of Nigeria with over four decades of active and uninterrupted experience at the Bar. He is a Founding Partner of the law firm, Udom and Udom (Legal Practitioners), established in 1984.
He currently serves as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Akwa Ibom State, providing strategic legal leadership and oversight for the State Government.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) degree in Law from Manchester Metropolitan University, Manchester, United Kingdom, in 1982. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in July 1983 (Class of ’83) after completing his studies at the Nigerian Law School.
He commenced legal practice following his National Youth Service in Ilorin, Kwara State, where he served in the Chambers of Oniyangi & Company. In November 1984, he co-founded Udom and Udom and has since built a formidable reputation in litigation, commercial transactions, arbitration, aviation law, cross-border financing (including aircraft leasing), energy and oil & gas transactions and complex constitutional matters.
In recognition of his professional excellence and contribution to the legal profession, he was elevated to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2013.
Over the years, he has played significant roles in matters of national importance, including representation of oil-producing communities before the Irikefe Panel of Inquiry, participation in constitutional and national conference engagements and involvement in landmark federalism and resource control litigation before the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, the International Bar Association, and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK). He is also a Founding Member of Aviation Education Resources and Information for African Lawyers (AERIAL).
Mr. Udom brings to the Board his wealth of experience in corporate governance, regulatory compliance, risk management, dispute resolution and complex commercial structuring.
He is married and has children.
Mr. Adebisi Ikuomola is our Executive Director, Technical. He is an authority in insurance technical operations with over 30 years of professional experience in the insurance industry.
He started his insurance career with Marine and General in 1989 before moving to Trustworld Insurance Company Limited as Controller, Technical. He left for Colenson Insurance Brokers where he served as Deputy General Manager. He, thereafter, moved to A & G Insurance Company as Chief Technical Officer where he joined Anchor Insurance as the Group Head, Technical.
Mr. Ikuomola holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Transport and Logistics Management from the American Institute of Stores and Inventory Management (2024), an MBA in Marketing, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (2009) and HND in Business Administration, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic {2007).
He is an Associate member of numerous professional bodies which include the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), Chartered Institute of Operations and Supply Chain Management (USA), Chartered Institute of Inventory Control Management Professionals (CICMP), and Chartered Institute of Procurement and Logistics Professionals (CPLP).
